The two additional variations of the E-chord are easiest to play as a regular E, and next put the little finger on the third
respectively forth note of the D-string.

The melody below fits good to play during the instrumental parts. If you like you can play the tones along with the chords.
If so, begin with playing the E-chord (instead of the stated chords) and move your little finger to find the tones. The part
where you originally should have played the G#-chord, you play the B-string tones instead. Then it's hard to find any chord
to play, eventually an A fits well. After that you play the E again and you finish with a B.

How long will it take before my soul breaks free and tastes the salt of morning’s first kiss? Morning’s first kiss on my skin.

     G# A(2) B E A E B
How long will it take before it bursts? Sunny days lick my soul, lick it free.

With days like this and nights like weeping songs, ‘cause they belong to anyone who’s felt the need, felt the need of a rush.

     G# A(2) B E A E B
With days like this and nights like weeping songs. Sunny days lick my soul, lick it free.

Instrumental part: E A B A E A B A G# A(2) B E A E B

E A B A E A B A E
Someone waits for you, someone treats you like dirt. Someone changes you, someone makes you stay the same.

            G# A(2) B E A E B
And someone tells you that you’re the only one, the only one to lick your soul, lick it free.

E A B A E A B A E
And your sister she’s in love, she has children there to prove it. And your brother he’s a beauty, he’s so beautiful it hurts.

          G# A(2) B E A E B
Yes, your sister she’s in love and she has children, and those children lick my soul, they lick it free.

I’ve wasted half my life with a guitar and a song. And it’s solid and it’s dreadful and it’s sweet in its breath.

            G# A(2) B E A E B
I’ve wasted half my life with this guitar, and these songs, lick my soul, they lick it free.

E A B A E A B A E
I tell you, all people, it’s been an honor to be here. And to all of you who have known me as a kid.

   G# A(2) B E A E B
To be in love and be loved in return is to lick, lick your soul, lick it free.

With days like this and nights like weeping songs, it’ll be free like it’s supposed to be.

E A B A A E
And it belongs to anyone who’s felt the need, felt the need of a rush.
